Sad days for a lovely South Africa

Just at a time when our country is suppose to be eagerly counting down, the months, weeks and days before the greatest event, the world cup, the mood is not great at all. It is not about the soccer itself, although Bafana Bafana have not been on their best of forms, but the state of affairs of our country; so many protests filled with anger, resentment and intent to hurt, damage property in order to be heard and their grievances attended.

The ugliest sight in all this was to witness the standoff between the protesting communities and the police. Exactly the same sight of what was the norm during the years of struggle. How true the adage of moving some steps forward only to move back. The government and the police are using exactly the same methods when dealing with uhappy and unsatisfied members of the communities. Where is the Proudly South African? It must be mentioned that some emotional slogans by themselves do not bear permanent results if not supported by tangible service delivery.

There is no justification to the duration that people have waited for houses. It would be difficult to ask people not to be angry when they see the schools in their areas not being improved, hospitals deteriating and other places still with no water and proper decent sanitation.

It is high time that Government officials walk on the dusty streets and confess to the people that they have failed them, not only make promises but come up with genuine plans that would positively change people's lives.

Maybe if there is a will, this negativity might just be exactly what we need to force us into right actions.

But for now; what a sad state of affairs!!!!!!!
